OzTAM is the official source of television ratings for all metropolitan TV and nationally for Subscription TV.

OzTAM POLICY CONCERNING ACCESS TO ELEMENTAL DATA

Fundamental to OzTAM’s television reviewing rating service is the supply of respondent level viewing data which, after editing and validation, is referred to as “Elemental Data”.

Elemental Data underpins the rating reports provided by OzTAM to it subscribers.

All intellectual property rights in Elemental Data at all times are and will remain the property of OzTAM.

The Board of OzTAM has resolved that OzTAM will supply Elemental Data on reasonable commercial terms to any third party who requests it, subject only to the following conditions which are necessary for the continued integrity and reputation of OzTAM services:

• Users of the Data must give a bona fide assurance to OzTAM of compliance with OzTAM’s Gold Standard in respect of the Elemental Data;
• Users must at all times comply with the Gold Standard in relation to their use and reporting of Elemental Data;
• User must acknowledge OzTAM’s ownership of the Elemental Data; and
• Parties must be able to pay OzTAM’s licence fees in respect of the Elemental Data.

The OzTAM Board has also resolved that it will provide reasons in writing on request to any party to whom OzTAM has, pursuant to this policy, declined to supply Elemental Data.

The OzTAM Gold Standard

The Gold Standard is the software benchmark introduced by OzTAM to ensure that OzTAM’s clients achieve consistent calculations when using the Elemental Data.

Only Gold Standard approved software can be used when analysing OzTAM data.

OzTAM provides access to Elemental Data on terms of the standard OzTAM’s licence agreement, a copy of which is available on request.
